How To Create Bill Of Materials In Solidworks
Sarah Bray, Style Writer:
I first met Bill Cunningham when I was an intern at The New York Times. Later that year, I saw the documentary about him and was shocked by the selfless life he was living far away from the world of fashion week and charity galas. He photographed and appreciated pretty clothes and beautiful people but could care less about money or being famous in a world that's obsessed with both. I started to run into him often since moving to New York covering fashion week, social events, ladies luncheons and charity galas for Town & Country. Somehow I made his pages a couple of times, which was always a surreal surprise and honor! I'll always remember him and his perspective on the world we work in.
I made Bill Cunningham's famous On the Street page, above, leaving a luncheon honoring Carolina Herrera at Lincoln Center. I'm first row far right. It's such a funny picture because I was waving and yelling hello at a friend across the plaza and then I turned around and saw Bill snapping it all! He captured a real moment and the real me.

The best part of living in midtown was seeing Bill Cunningham in front of Bergdorf Goodman on the corner of 57th and 5th when I walked to work. My partner and I admired him for years and always wondered if he would ever take our picture. One day, buying licorice at Myzels on 55th Street, we spotted him while walking our standard poodle Fritz. Suffice it to say, the star of that week's Sunday Styles wasn't us, but our stylish canine whom Bill loved. We weren't friends, but he always had a twinkle in his eye. For a budding fashion editor (in my own mind), the moment he pointed his lens at you was all the validation I ever needed.

Bill Cunningham took my picture for the first time when I was in high school. I was walking out of Barneys with my mom when he took the photo, and I remember exactly what I was wearing—a white shirt dress and a straw hat. After he took the picture I told him how much I loved his work and thanked him for all of the inspiration and he said to me, "Don't thank me, it's all of you!" Years later, I discovered his "Facades" photos at the New York Historical Society. They are photographs he staged of his friend in front of New York City buildings wearing outfits from the years in which the structures were built. The book hasn't been published since the 1970s when it first came out (someone needs to change that!) but I managed to get my hands on a copy. Once I started attending events for Town & Country, I looked forward to seeing Bill in his suit at every party, always with a twinkle in his eye. A walk across 57th street in the morning won't be the same without the chance to watch Bill in action on the corner of 5th avenue.
